Craig Dreves

Founder and President

Craig Dreves brings a wealth of global teaching and leadership experience to his role as Founder and President of VolunTravel. Over eight years abroad, he taught English in diverse countries including Japan, Romania, Peru, and Costa Rica. His nearly three-year Peace Corps service in Romania involved teaching English and supporting children in an orphanage. More recently, he spent a year working with street children in Trujillo, Peru.

Since returning to his hometown of Rye in 2005, Craig has dedicated himself to education, serving as a middle school history and English teacher, as well as an ESL instructor at Westchester Community College. He currently serves as the principal of Park Avenue Elementary School in Port Chester, where he leads with a commitment to community and student success.

His passion for service travel is reflected in the many groups he has guided on impactful volunteer trips, including Fordham University students to Romania, Rye High School Habitat for Humanity teams, church groups to West Virginia, and People to People educational tours across Europe.

Kristin Orig

Kristin Orig is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served in Ecuador from 2004 to 2007. During her time there, she worked as a Youth and Families volunteer with Fundación Junto con los Niños (JUCONI), focusing on community outreach by organizing and leading developmental and therapeutic youth groups.

Kristin holds a BA in Psychology from the University at Albany and an MSEd in Counseling from Fordham University. She currently serves as a high school guidance counselor on Long Island, where she continues her commitment to service by chaperoning an annual group of high school students traveling to Nicaragua to implement community development projects that support local communities.

Jennifer Mann

Jennifer Mann brings a lifelong passion for cultural connection, education, and service to her role at VolunTravel. Born in Peru and raised bilingually, she has lived and traveled extensively throughout Central and South America—experiences that continue to shape her belief in the transformative power of global community.

For the past 22 years, Jennifer has served as an educator in New York, teaching at both the elementary and middle school levels. She currently teaches in a dual language middle school program, where she inspires young people through the lenses of sociocultural competence, high academic achievement, and bilingualism & biliteracy. Her degrees in anthropology and education further deepen her understanding and expertise.

As an educator, she has led multiple international trips with middle school students, including a cultural exploration in Spain, a language immersion experience in Costa Rica, and a service learning journey in the Dominican Republic. The DR trip, where her students helped clean mangroves and repair coral reefs, stands out as a powerful example of how travel can build empathy, responsibility, and lasting impact.

Jennifer is deeply committed to creating opportunities where people of all ages can discover the joy of giving back while exploring the world. She believes every journey has the power to change lives—both within the communities served and within the travelers themselves.
